Spamming
Just dropping a quick notice that spamming in any section besides the Off Topic/Spam section is not allowed.
If you reply to a topic with short and unnecessary posts that do not contribute to the topic or is not related to the discussion, your post will be deleted and points might be deducted from your account.
As I have not mentioned this before, I did not deduct any points from anyone. However, I will not hesitate to do so in the future. So please refrain from spamming.
Thanks (:

Re: Spamming
I guess I won't post anything now because Dany basically covered everything with his post, that would be considered "spam" and I don't have anything to add to that.
Ehem, joking, thank you Annie, this will give posts with really a meaning.

Re: Spamming
Don't know if hosting a site, has a post count limit or something, but seeing as I was a former leader of the clan I was in, and it ran perfectly, The key to success is, being a family. Yes, rules are a must, but there is a too much.
----------------------------------------
I refused a leadership position when my clan merged with a dictator type of clan. the leadership lost its connection with it's members, and they lived around rules, upon rules.
We had 3 leaders, one for discipline, one for events, and one for to see elections(lol?), manage RS thread, manage relations with other clans/unions. When something went wrong, we had to go to the disciplinary leader to " appeal" clan bans, or other stuff. But wouldn't you know it, she was barely ever online. Being as I was the coleader of my side of the clan I handled the disciplinary stuff, I always reported everything to the main leader, kept her up to speed on everything clan related. it ran perfect.
So when one of the leaders power abused, I called him out on it and simply said " Power abuse" he banned me from forums and clan.. and wouldn't you know it, a rebellion started, the clan got split in half and eventually, months after it died. Now the dictator leader tried to rebuild the clan, same tight rules and everything, but 80% of the members, key members, refused to join because of what happened to me. ( respect is earned, not given ).
------------------------
Now that I sort of got my resume out the way, try to ease up on rules, sure this clan may be running for a long time, but it wouldn't count if people would feel like they are in prison or school. Again I don't know if the forums has a post count limit, but as long as it doesn't get out of control which then a qualified individual can pull them aside and tell them to ease up, why do it.
I think it's andrew, idk his name, but he is the biggest spammer/randomist person in the clan, but yet he make it seem alive in the clanchat, Sometimes spam is good?. what I'm trying to get to is, don't lose that feel that definetly drew me even closer to this clan.
-
How I got to this, my ex clan did too go with the point system, some felt out of place, like they didn't contribute to the clan enough as the next guy *ahem*. I know I'm behind on alot, but real life comes first and when I sign in, I want to train, yes I hate diverting from my training to do some citadal work. BUT when I finish my training, or feeling very good. I go max out at the citadal with no problem. I don't mean to sound rebelious but I hope this is the second and final new addition. The third for my former clan was mandatory showing up to events, even if we had real life obligations we HAD to show up to wars, and clan events if not we get warned then kicked

Re: Spamming
Well, to answer your first question, there isn't a limit on posts. Or even if there is one, we won't reach it anytime soon.
Of course we don't want to make this a 'dictator clan' or lose the family feel. That would be one of the (if not the worst) things that could happen to us. This is *only* for the offsite in to non-spam section, where people get points for posting and where we try to post posts that can contribute to the clan. So, for example, if someone posts a long, thought-out posts (like yours) that maybe has one, short, slightly funny thing in it and someone would reply with a post that says "lol" and nothing else, wouldn't make you feel a little disappointed? Also, he's supposed to get points for that (even though I don't really think he would).
Remember that this only applies for the offsite, the andrew-kinda spamming in the clan chat and rsof is acceptable and welcome most of the time. As you said, it makes it more lively, which is always a good thing.
I hope you understand.

Re: Spamming
I wouldn't mind if I already know certain people would respond like that, but when it comes to people who has the effect of making the change or helping out.. just replying with " LOL" or " TL:DR" then I see where you're coming from *look at rs forums at very well thought out rants and suggestions* you already know who would actually read and who wouldn't.
in the case of the clan.. this is a very mature clan, seen responses from everyone, even in my "situation" they responded very good. and it helped me alot.. so pardon me if I didn't see very good topics, degraded by offtopic, single word posts.

Re: Spamming
Okay I'll be honest here, I can't really think of any posts like that right now either. :x I did see some like that in spam, but that doesn't count.

Re: Spamming
I've deleted posts that would be considered spam, hence why you didn't notice any.
As Dany said, we're not wanting to build a dictator clan, that is for sure. We cherish every member and value the input of every individual within the clan.
The only reason I made such a rule as this is because I do not want people posting in every topic with unnecessary posts so they can gain fast points and rank up. It's already happened (don't ask) and I have no wish for it to continue any further. Of course, we still want everyone to post and keep the offsite forums active. It's just that we don't want the offsite to be some sort of "playground" for people to spam with irrelevant posts and rank up that way. It's not fair for others and it certainly isn't a honest or welcome way to gain ranks.
I'm sorry if this rule seemed a bit too much. However, I do believe it is necessary to ensure people do not use the offsite as a means to quickly gain ranks.
And thanks for voicing out your concerns, Turbo. Opinions and feedback are never unwelcome when it comes to our clan.

Re: Spamming
Great idea! Just to build upon your hopes to prevent people from ranking up quickly through the offsite forum, perhaps you could divide the points earned by 2? That way it still contributes to ranking up, but members would be encouraged to participate more in-game to earn points.

Re: Spamming
I don't think that's necessary, the point system for the offsite is fine as it is, in my opinion. However, if other leaders feel differently, then all I have to do is to edit the gained points per post when posting in varying sections. It's not hard to do at all.

Re: Spamming
^ Agree, since it already takes a long time to achieve the highest rank which is non-staff, about 7 months. Then it would basically take at least 1.5 times longer, which is quite ridiculous, over a year for a rank that still has no special rights pretty much.
